every anime fan has seen evangelion. everyone who has seen evangelion should have seen the new version (remake of eps 25 and 26). now did you like it?

I think I've only seen about half of Evangelion - I kept forgetting it was on TV and I've never picked up the DVD's.
However, I've just pre-ordered the new "Platinum" version of Evangelion and will follow it through to the end and also pick up the movies - all in good time.

I saw it, fan-dubbed, at Uni with the Anime club. It got very confusing, but it was much more action packed, brought together various strands and seemed to be a far more appropriate ending than the seeming let-down that was the series ending.

i dunno abt you guys but evangelion had a lot going for itself and basically shot itself in the foot with the ending and the remakes for episodes 25 and 26, in my opinion didnt do much better. all i gotta say is it started witha lotta promise and then died off suddenly in the end. thats what i think neway!!

fan subtitleing is just as good as getting the dvd version and watching it in jap with subs. as long as you get it from a good subbing group.

hello world........
come on... the "eva" series rated the best anime (only by Japanese)
think of how many anime were produce in japan every year
(although One Piece got the highest TV rating...)

I liked Evangelion, then I got ticked off trying to understand what Hideaki Anno was trying to convey during the later episodes.

Wait!
Which remake? the Eps 25-26(final genises) Or the movie remakes?
I have both and they didnt live up to what i hoped for but still kicked ass!
But advice dont buy platinum yet...I have DVDs 1-5 cost me $230.00 with discount and its not that great...wait till its a box set for about 300-450 over here on volume costs 50! But the Box with disc one has the best t-shirt!(but is always large so it never fits!)
However Eva Certainly Kicks Ass!!!
So farewall for noe lilium

I could start up the "Evangelion is overrated and overhyped" discussion, but that would probably start up a flame war.
And Evangelion is not the top anime of all time in Japan, I heard something like Sazae-san is. One Piece is still incredibly popular.
And Fansubbing is not as great as buying the DVD. With the DVD, you support anime (which is great) and lets you have better audio and video while watching. Not to mention, more accurate subs (unless there was lots of bastardisati - I mean, westernization).

But the same thing can be said of the translated versions...With english words i mean..a lot of puns and remarks are changed and not nearly as good as the origanel...Has anyone sat down and watche either Naratu or Love hina in Japanese then tried to watch an English version? It tends to be very differant...

Obviously, your thinking that I watch the dubs. I have to respond to that with a "hell no!".
When I mean better audio, I'm meaning that the overall sound quality is better. Just like how the sound quality on your favorite CD would sound better than the MP3 that you download off the internet.

Woot~~
thats right cypher, Dubs Suck, im not saying this in a perspective that i have not heard/seen eng dub series ( eg madman productions , i can tell you that i have only seen less than 5 minutes of the first ep of love hina in english, then i just changed it to jap, simply becuase its terrable.
DMB - even though i do admit that Evangelion is a good series, but not every1 is a hard core eva fan, so i guess your qoute forum wont get much hits since your just revolving around evangelion. and as cypher said eva is not somthing to go crazy about.
But as stated in my Sig, FANSUBS ARE FOR PREVIEWING, but i know that this message rarely gets through to anyone.
sigh....

Love Hina Manga was better

And Madman is a great company...they license anime from the states so we can get it here cheaper.

Lol the manga for all anime series is always better, infact they cut Love hina, like the majority of the series, they made it too short =(

Yeah, the anime only goes up to around Volume 11.
Cowboy Bebop anime was better than the manga. I think the FLCL was better as well. Elfen Lied anime was better in a sense that the mangaka drew the characters in his manga really crappily (because it was like his first work).

I thought 2nd movie was great overall as it gave more insight into the series as a whole than episodes 25 and 26. When I first saw Episodes 25 and 26 I though WTF!? As well as answering a number of questions about episodes 25 and 26, it also raises new questions as well (which could B a good or a bad thing). The ending of the 2nd movie raised the bar of nostalgia for the series as its open-ended and up to interpretation of the the implications of its meaning. At the very least it has more appeal than the 2 final episodes purely because of the mindlessly gut-renching battle of the Evas (com'on isn't that of the strongest selling points for anime?).
1 word to describe the eva marketing scheme: EXTORTION!
-Jap fans weren't satisfied with the 2 concluding episodes so they make the movie.
- In America, Australia and Europe they introduced the video series (in dubbed and subbed formats respectively) -> DVDs (individually) -> DVD series Box set -> Movies -> remake of episodes 25 and 26 -> platnum series -> Next?
How much more can they milk the public for?

As long as they have Evangelion on whatever they try to sell, they can get money for it.
And Episode 25 and 26 was poorly made because they ran out of money. That's why we had lots of dodgy low budget animation at the end where it looked like the animators couldn't be f***** to draw properly.
